1984 war ein hervorragendes Jahr. The Sisters Of Mercy brachten
"Body And Soul" heraus, "Ignore The Machine"
erschütterte die Underground-Hallen und im selben Herbst formierten
sich die zwei Electro/Dark Wave-Bands The Fair Sex und Invisible
Limits, deren Electro-Mastermind Thomas Lüdke schon kurze Zeit
darauf als The Invincible Spirit die Clubszene aufrollte.
Rechtzeitig zum 20-jährigen Bestehen der zwei Ruhrpott-Urgesteine
bringen nun beide Bands Backkatalog-Veröffentlichungen inzwischen
nicht mehr erhältlicher Alben heraus.
Doch damit nicht genug: Um ihre zeitgleichen Releases zu flankieren,
schlossen sie sich zu dem Gemeinschaftsprojekt The Invincible Sex
zusammen. Auf ihrer selbstbetitelten EP stellen sie nun die ersten
Resultate ihres gemeinsamen Schaffens vor, genauso wie jeweils zwei
brandaktuelle Aufnahmen der zwei jeweiligen Ursprungsbands.
Um ein in sich geschlossenes Gesamtbild zu erschaffen, entschlossen
sie sich, auf dieser EP vor allem ihre elektronische Seite dominieren
zu lassen. Ein weiteres Grundkonzept war überhaupt nicht vonnöten:
Die Musiker verstanden sich blind, und wirkten darüber hinaus
bei den Songs der jeweils anderen Band tatkräftig mit.
The Invincible Spirit dürften mit "Deeper" nach jahrelanger
Zurückgezogenheit letztlich in der Tat einen würdigen
Nachfolger ihres Club-Überhits "Push" an den Start
gebracht haben (guest vocals by Myk Jung), und überraschen
mit "Alphasex" durch rauhe, kompromisslose Electro-Punk-Attitüde.
The Fair Sex lassen es in der 21st Century-Version von "The
Naked And The Dead" (guest vocals by Thomas Lüdke) in
unerbittlicher EBM-Turbulenz krachen, und liefern mit dem atmosphärisch-eleganten
"Drop Of Blood" eine erste Version ihres eigens für
den Underground-Film "Kinder der Nacht 2" geschriebenen
Songs ab.
Mit dem hymnisch-eingängigen "Red Glow Horizon" und
der unterschwellig treibenden Magie der Killer-Ballade "Your
God In Me" runden The Invincible Sex das Gesamtbild ab, ganz
zu schweigen von ihren endzeitigen Intro-Worten, von Myk und Thomas
gemeinsam an die Welt gerichtet...
1984 was an outstanding year.
The Sisters Of Mercy released "Body and Soul", "Ignore
The Machine" shattered the underground dancefloors, and in
autumn of that particular year the two German Electro-Goth-bands
THE FAIR SEX and THE INVINCIBLE SPIRIT were founded.
Now, just in time for the 20th anniversary of these German Legends
both bands come forth with compilations of their previous successes
which were not available for quite some time. (THE FAIR SEX “Thin
Walls – Part II” & THE INVINICBLE SPIRIT “Anthology”
both out 22.11.2004)
Yet this is not all of good news: To back up their simultanously
released anthologies THE FAIR SEX and THE INVINCIBLE SPIRIT melted
their powers to form THE INVINCIBLE SEX.
The first result of this cooperation is their new self-titled EP
which presents two new titles of each of the bands, and moreover
material that they created together.
In order to reach a well-rounded unity they decided to let the electronic
side of their creativity dominate -whereas more of conceptional
ideologies were not necessary to be found: They got so well along
with each other as if they had been partners for several years.
THE INVINCIBLE SPIRIT’s new song “Deeper” (guest
vocals by Myk Jung) is a worth successor of their mega-hit “Push”
and “Alphasex” comes a long as a rough electro-punk track.
The 21st Century Version of THE FAIR SEX‘s “The Naked
And The Dead” (guest vocals by Thomas Lüdke) hits you
with merciless EBM and the band presents the atmospheric-elegant
“Drop Of Blood”, a first version of this song written
for the underground movie “Kinder der Nacht 2”.
The hymn-like and catchy "Red Glow Horizon" and the magic
of the slow ballad-resembling "Your God In Me" conclude
the concept work of The Invincible Sex, not to mention the armageddon-wise
intro words spoken by Myk and Thomas themselves.
